Antibiotic Resistant Diseases
& Bio-Diversity In Plants & Humans
……………………………………………………………………….
The arrogance of us people displays it’s ugly head every century.
In this the 21st century our past mistakes and overestimation’s might really do us in.
This might be the case for example in the application of antibiotics. Antibiotics were once hailed as the miracle medicine that would protect mankind from all Global outbreaks. Much like the blind faith we have shown in vaccines, now superbugs come forth out of antibiotics
We are creating Antibiotic-resistant Superbugs Research by for example the German ARD ,’Die Story im Ersten’, environmental pollution by Big Pharma is creating a time-bomb worse than any war we ever witnessed. Production spill in China & India are flowing straight into rivers and oceans.
We never considered that we were fighting bacteria where some had actually formed a symbiotic relationship with us. Let me take the flu as an example; The Flu is a nuisance. However it also helps our bodies prepare for the changing of the seasons. Our lungs and respiratory system on the changing temperatures and humidity in the air we breath. Maybe we had already developed a symbiotic relationship with this virus over the many centuries mankind & the virus inhabited the same space. At a certain point we turned this friend into an enemy by attacking it with antibiotics. The virus pushed back and adapted and mutated to attack back, by becoming one of mankind’s bigger possible future threats. Proving again we people are not as clever as we think. This hypothesis does not even consider the tinkering we are doing, in badly guarded science labs with these same viruses.
We always seem to run before we even are able to walk!
The same can be said about the way we started growing our food after the introduction of the industrial revolution, by implementing the use of enormous easy to harvest mono-cultures.
When we took out the plant-life diversity in growing, we made the plants more susceptible to attacks by diseases and insects. Sure we could grow bigger, faster and harvest easier than before. And we did make some people get rich quickly. What again we did not do, is think of the possible long-term effects on soil depletion, fungal attacks or pest crop resistance.
We need to return to Biodiversity in Agriculture and an overall more local approach. The Future Of Food-Security will be in local small farms as well as in Vertical & Urban Farming!
As usual we just dive in at the deep-end and run with it. The same way we did with, nuclear energy, fossil fuels, plastics, asbestos, pesticides, GMO’s, etc, etc. Obviously we mostly live in the now, and NO we do not care enough about the future of our children.
The answer would be to listen closer to our senses in looking for healthy long-term solutions, instead of running with every single new invention like it’s a Godsend. We are so focused on short-term profits & economy that we lose sight of long-term well being. We could potentially destroy our collective future. Personally I believe smaller farms , urban-farming & local growing is the solution to Global food-security issues. I also believe that some flu outbreaks should kill some older people as intended by mother nature. Rooting out the weak, thereby giving way for the next generations. As long as we keep on putting profits before common sense we can forget about a more harmonious collective future.
So I think the more general question is; are we actually becoming smarter or are we becoming a degraded result of our actual potential? Are we really making progress, or are we merely talking one another into believing we are? Are we lacking the courage to take responsibility for our individual and collective actions, leaving this up to insurance companies, the judicial-system & multinationals? We need to think before we ink! We need to educate and develop into single growing individuals as part of a collective that shows real progress into a combined and healthy future wherein we can all benefit of our many individual inventions and solutions.
The only way to do so, is to put people before economic targets and stop Nationalistic tug-of-wars between sovereign Nations. Capitalism has failed human-rights, the environment and progress in general. If anything capitalism has hampered mankind and slowed-down progressive action on many matters concerning us all. Dualism & competition should only serve enhancements not create some winners and countless losers. So take a good look at our actions before we start running in order to have the time to first visualize possible errors in our thinking. Stop kissing ass and create space for constructive criticism. This is the way forward to healthy answers and a more healthy future for all.
Gadgets being used as extensions of our senses should not inhibit the expansion or growing awareness of these same senses.
Think Global,…… Act Local! It is not an empty philosophy!
